Gorillas in Zoos

Zoos are a great way for people to learn and appreciate wild animals from all around the world. There are a number of zoos which also take part in hunting for the animal like Gorilla to capture and to provide in public place for the interest of people. This article may explain the history of the zoo for the consumption of the Gorilla speciess and the measures to prevent them from dying.

The conditions of the zoos have changed drastically over the years and many new measures are taken to preserve the species of Gorillas. Gorillas were not known to humankind officially untill 1847. After 1847, a zoo in London brought in the Gorillas to their zoo but soon after their arrival they all died. Gorillas are very sensitive to change and the disruption in their routine, without being properly studied before removing them from their locations is what led to their death. After this incident, the Zoological Department did not allow Gorillas to be part of the zoo during this stage.

One of the African Gorillas was taken to the western zoo after the Second World War. After the war was over then a proper trade was started for the gorillas. There were about 56 Gorillas recorded to be in America and Europe by 1954 and this ratio was increased in the coming 6 years, which soob turned into 150 Gorillas in Europe and America.

People were scared when they first observed gorillas, because people believed that gorillas are like beasts and that they are dangerous. Attitude changed over time, once gorillas became studied more and the public became educated about Gorilla’s social behavior, their habitat and their role in the ecological system. Now, there are many zoos in Europe in which people can live in a large room along-side the Gorillas and enjoy friendly interactions and social bonds with gorillas.
